Comfortable and elegant sleepwear that will last the test of time

At SILKBLVD, our ethos is simple. We pay particular attention to the quality of the fabric, design and stitching of the garments. We strive to ensure that all our sleepwear is colour fast, can be machine washed and ironed at home.

We are committed to ensuring that all our garments are made ethically, have versatility, and can be worn in different settings cognisant of the global climate crisis.

Global warming and our responsibility

You may have noticed almost every business offering Mulberry silk sleepwear or garments outline the benefits of purchasing silk. Whilst Mulberry silk is rightly touted as the ideal fabric for its strength, durability, softness and hypo-allergenic qualities, it still relies on the Earth’s finite and diminishing resources, similar to cotton, linen, synthetics and other organic fabrics.

According to the World Economic Forum on textiles and fashion supply chains, statistics indicate that textiles are the third largest global polluters. The textile industry generates emissions far surpassing those of the shipping and aviation industries combined.

In Australia, we buy 15 kilograms of clothing every year and 14.8 kilograms of that end up in landfill and are later incinerated, producing noxious gases that further pollute the environment.

What is the solution?

Perhaps the easiest and most achievable solution is to change our purchasing habits. Buying items responsibly is crucial, especially clothing that can be worn many times and that can stand the test of time. Clothing that can be reused, by repurposing or exchanging with friends and family to freshen up your wardrobe.

Due to the soft, breathable nature of silk, and versatility, it’s the ideal fabric for summer. Silk is perfect for every occasion and can be dressed as you need. As such, our silk camisoles can be worn during the day to casual events, at the beach or as sleepwear.

It's also the ideal fabric when worn out to turn into scarves, cushion covers, napkins, pillowcases and scrunchies.  Let’s all do our best to reduce the global climate crisis. Don’t succumb to fast fashion and buy responsibly.

That said, we hope you buy and wear our sleepwear for years to come.

Happy shopping!
